The Higher Degree Research (HDR) Scholarship is open to continuing Higher Degree by Research candidates enrolled at Federation University Australia who intend to complete within the next six months.
Applicants should provide two written references, one of which must be from the candidate's principal supervisor including information on submission timeline. Applicants who do not include a thesis completion plan signed by the principal supervisor by the due date will be ineligible.
Eligibility
To meet the basic eligibility requirements for all Federation University Australia Foundation HDR Scholarships, HDR candidates will need to be:
- Enrolled as a Federation University HDR candidate undertaking a Higher Degree by Research at 1 March
- Intending to submit within the next six months
- Able to demonstrate past satisfactory progress
- Able to demonstrate financial circumstances
- Able to demonstrate commitment to study
- Able to provide two written references, one of which must be from the candidate’s Principal Supervisor including information on submission timeline
Scholarship Amount
4 Scholarships Available
Each recipient will receive a single payment of $7,000 after the census date.
Conditions
- Active and enrolled post census date.
- Students who defer their offer or take a leave of absence will forfeit their award.
- Can be full-time or part-time.
- Awardees are required to attend the Foundation event at the scholarship-specified campus.
- Students are to maintain current contact details. If you cannot be contacted by mail, email or telephone in relation to this scholarship, your scholarship may be terminated.

- have known you for at least a year or for the entire time you were in the situation.
- not be a close family member.
- not live with you.
- and be able to speak about your situation without needing you to explain it to them.
Reference letters can be written by supervisors, co-workers, clients, teachers, or professors.
Please note, that the reference letters must not be older than 12 months from submission date. Reference letters that do not meet the requirements will be deemed as invalid.
