Hardship Grant Purpose
The FedSuccess Hardship Support Grant aims to provide assistance to students facing significant financial hardship which is impacting their course participation and progression.
Grant Amount
- $600 for part-time students
- $1200 for full-time students
Eligibility Criteria
- Be currently active and enrolled in a TAFE, undergraduate, honours or postgraduate course with Federation University Australia
- Experiencing significant financial hardship that is, or has the potential, to impact course participation and progression
- Be able to provide, via upload, evidence to support financial hardship and/or circumstances
- Have not received a FedSuccess Hardship Support Grant in the current application year
Students commencing their study at Federation University Australia in semester 1, 2025 are not eligible for this grant until after semester 1 census date: 31st March 2025
Students commencing their study at Federation University Australia in semester 2, 2025 are not eligible for this grant until after semester 2 census date: 15th of August 2025
Application Process
Step 1: Complete the Pre-Application Form. Students are required to apply using their student email address. Applications submitted using a private email address will be deemed ineligible.
Step 2: Assessment for Hardship Situation - If your application is identified as being in a hardship situation, it will advance to the next stage automatically.
Step 3: Application Form - Fill out the application form completely and upload the necessary documents as instructed.
Step 5: Assessment - The submitted application and documents will undergo a thorough assessment for a comprehensive review.
Evidence Requirements
Examples of evidence required to support your application are:
- Bank statements for the past two months that demonstrate financial hardship
- Evidence of financial hardship, for example due or overdue bills and expenses, debts, fines, loss of employment, medical issues, illness, injury
- Application statement and/or evidence explaining how financial hardship is impacting upon course participation and progression
- Please note applications without appropriate evidence will be considered ineligible.

Grants are subject to funding each year and funding is relevant to that year only.
Applications for 2025 will be opening Monday 06 January 2025 at 12am.
The FedSuccess - Hardship Support Grant is subject to annual funding and will run until the funds are exhausted or 5.00pm on Friday 05 December 2025, whichever is earlier.
Applications for the 2025 year close on Friday 05 December 2025 at 5pm. No further 2025 applications submitted after this date and time will be accepted for eligibility and will be automatically considered as ineligible due to no further funding availability for 2025 after this date.
