Description

Dr (Aunty) Mary Atkinson demonstrated a lifetime of commitment to the pursuit of improving Indigenous participation in, and outcomes from, education and training. The Dr (Aunty) Mary Atkinson Scholarship assists Indigenous students undertaking an undergraduate program of study to achieve their future aspirations. To be eligible students must be in their 1st year of study.

Eligibility:  

  • Domestic student

  • Be an Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person

  • Enrolled in an Undergraduate at Federation University

  • Achieved an exceptionally high standard, participates in an activity related to their course or contributed to their University or Community

Scholarship Amount/Benefit:  

The student will receive up to $5400

Conditions:  

  • Be active and enrolled post census date

  • If payment is required before census date due to financial hardship, you will need to put this in your application to be considered, however If you withdraw from your studies, you may be requested to repay all or part of the scholarship.

  • Students who defer their offer or take a leave of absence will forfeit their award.

  • If payment is required before census date due to financial hardship, you will need to put this in your application to be considered, however If you withdraw from your studies, you may be requested to repay all or part of the scholarship.

Commonwealth Scholarships are governed by a set of conditions: 

  • the payment of a lump sum unlikely to be repeated;

  • the scholarship/reward/prize could not reasonably have been expected to be received or necessarily anticipated by the recipient;

  • the payment of the lump sum does not represent receipt of money for services rendered directly or indirectly;

  • the payment is not intended to duplicate or supplement the purpose for which an Indigenous-CECS or Indigenous-CAS is provided; and

  • it is not to be provided in anticipation of a person’s future performance.
