Description:

An academic merit and equity and access-based scholarship awarded to high performing commencing domestic students in the specified programs who can demonstrate equity or access considerations that have or could impact the applicant's ability to achieve their full potential.

Eligibility:

  • Domestic undergraduate new/commencing students undertaking Bachelor of Secondary Education; and
  • Has demonstrated academic merit through the academic results on which program admission was based; and 
  • Can demonstrate equity or access considerations such as: 
    • First in family 
    • Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander 
    • Refugee 
    • Gender or sexually diverse 
    • Family circumstances impact study 
    • Sole parent 
    • Primary carer for a child who has a chronic ongoing illness, disability, or injury 
    • Experienced family violence 
    • Physical illness or diagnosis 
    • Mental health diagnosis 
    • Victim of crime 
    • Has been in foster / kinship / ward of the state for 12 months or more within the past 3 years at the time of application 
    • Experiencing or at risk of homelessness 
    • Death of a parent or close relationship 
    • affected by bushfire, flood, drought, or other natural disaster 
    • Severe financial hardship 
  • Active and enrolled full time in one of the designated Federation University Australia programs post census date. 

Scholarship Amount:

  • $4,000 paid in four instalments of $1000: 
  • $1000 payment post semester 1 and 2 census date in year 1 (total $2000 in year one)
  • $1000 payment post semester 1 and 2 census date in year 2 (total $2000 in year two)

Conditions:

  • Be active and enrolled full-time post census date 
  • Students who defer their offer or take a leave of absence will forfeit their award 

Application process:

The application form captures equity and access considerations as listed above. Applicants will also be required to enter their ATAR or GPA from prior studies and upload evidence to support this.

Process or administrative considerations:

Applicants must meet the merit threshold to be considered further and will be ranked in order of merit and then hardship.

Undergraduate 

  • an ATAR of 10 points higher than the guaranteed ATAR for the program (or from the lowest adjusted rank selected in 2022 if no guarantee).
  • GPA of 6 or above

Postgraduate coursework 

  • A GPA of 6 or above

It can also include allocation based on the entry program/basis of admission
